Green Marble Tile: New Bathroom, Who Dis

If you own a home, the work is never done.

I should know. I’ve lived in my home for 17 years now — I was the mama of three little ones and pregnant with baby #4 when we closed Escrow (essentially outgrowing our new home before we even moved in) — and we’ve been renovating ever since, whenever time and money allow. When we first moved in, there were lots of things we did straight away. We scraped that funny “popcorn ceiling” stuff from every room in the house. We knocked down a wall in the kitchen. We ripped out all the carpet and refinished the wood floors.

And the bathrooms. Ay Dios mio, the bathrooms.

The master bath was a sight. Lordt. Abysmal grey toilet. The same grey tile in the shower. Mildew-covered shower doors. Teeny tiny footprint (master bath, my ass). Bright green paint sponged on the walls (sponged, my friends). The vanity was built for Hobbits with no storage space in sight. We ripped out the shower doors, bought another vanity, painted the walls white and then just endured the teeny tiny footprint for several years. When it came time to do some upgrades, I was so excited.

The first thing I wanted was counter space. Like a real, legit counter.  Not a couple inches around the sink like the stingy vanity we had — a real counter, tiled with beautiful ceramic tile. I didn’t want to eat up precious counter space with two sinks so we stuck with one. After many discussions with my favorite construction dude (my brother Eric), I had an idea of what style of tile I wanted and had it all planned out in my brain. Then I wandered past this Caribbean green marble tile in the store and my jaw dropped. I loved the green color and it gave me all the spa feels. I had to have it. This tile was the inspiration for the entire bathroom — the color of the cabinets, the finish on the hardware, the shower tile, grout color and the floors.

I can’t tell you how much I love my bathroom now, especially my countertop. Now, I have a place for all of my curly hair products, my bluetooth speaker, my hair dryer and diffuser. Sure, it isn’t the largest bathroom and it certainly isn’t the most luxurious. But it’s not grey and it’s not built for a hobbit.  And this tile is so dreamy. My only regret is that I didn’t put the backsplash all the way up the wall to the ceiling — it would’ve looked uh-mazing.

I found this tile over at Floor & Decor. They had so many more options than the local big box home improvement store. Just a thought — as a homeowner there are more options. This isn’t a sponsored post but I really love their selection of tile and their prices. Going to start renovating my kitchen soon and I definitely will be going back.

I got questions for you did you tear down everything and how long did it take to finish? I just have broken tile and I need to patch it up. I would love to hear your opinion on this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XPCB9V5 is it a worth buy. It would be lovely if you have a more cheaper alternative in fixing damaged tiles.
